Committees 2021–2022



ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
Time Frame: October–March.
Description: Coordinate with school staff to order,  assemble, and distribute the academic awards earned by students.
 
ALLOCATIONS
Time Frame: Throughout the school year to accommodate fall and spring allocations requests.
Skills: Microsoft Excel
Description: Accept and review allocations requests and follow up as necessary. Coordinate with the committee and meet twice a year to determine which allocations will be recommended for approval vote by general membership. Present the committee recommendations at the PAWS general meetings. Coordinate and follow up assure allocations invoices have been received and paid.
 
DIRECTORY
Time Frame: September
Skills: Microsoft Excel
Note: Ideal candidate will be someone who wants to work flexible hours and for a short period of time in September
Description: Duties occur primarily in September. This is a time-intensive job for a couple of weeks in late September.  It requires attention to detail and moderate knowledge of Excel. The duties include collecting student and teacher contact information from WWS, collecting PAWS member information from the membership chair, collecting sponsor information, and getting the data into the correct format for upload to the online directory (Directory Spot).  Each month, check for new PAWS members and grant access to the online directory..
 
FOOTBALL PARKING PASSES 
Time Frame: June–October (November if playoffs)
Skills: Arrange volunteers to work the Friday night Football games and other events.
Description: Parking pass sales will be online with membership, and at the football reserved seating night. In August  obtain list of parking passes sold from the Membership chair to print and distribute parking passes prior to the first home football game. Attend Football Reserved Seating dates in August to distribute parking passes and sell additional passes. Mail remaining passes prior to the first home football game. Attend Fall athletic meeting to sell additional passes.
     August-October (November if playoffs): Arrange for volunteers to monitor the end zone parking lot at all home games. Secure reserved spots and sell additional spots during the games. Parking lot must be blocked off and monitored prior to Sophomore game gate opening which is 4:30pm and ending at half time of Varsity game, approximately 8:30pm.

FOOTBALL SEATING 
Time Frame: The week before school starts.
Description: The football seating sale is held one evening in August in coordination with the Athletic Director.  This position is directly responsible for the sale of the Reserved Seats for home football games.  Priority is given to families with students playing football, participating in the Band, and Cheer. The sale date includes the Membership Chair, the Football Parking Pass Chair, and Sports Pass Chair who participate in the sale as well.
  
FRESHMAN ORIENTATION 
Time Frame: July–August.
Description: Working within a set budget, and in coordination with the WWS Administration,  you will plan and serve food items at Freshman Orientation. In coordination with  your committee, obtain donations of food items, and place orders for food items to serve to the students on Freshman Orientation Day held in August.

HOMECOMING LIAISON
Timeline: August–October
Description: Plan and execute an alumni event for Homecoming. Solicit donations from alumni.

LANDSCAPING/BEAUTIFICATION
Timeline: Throughout school year
Description: Maintain plantings in WWS front sign bed, front door entrance and Red Grange field pots. Coordinate with WWS building superintendent.  Coordinate with Tiger PAWS for ordering and installation of bricks on Tradition Trail for retirees and outgoing Tiger PAWS president.
 
MEDIA RELATIONS/PUBLICITY 
Time Frame: Throughout school year
Skills/qualities: Frequent social media user. Good network of friends to help report on sports/activities. Ability to concisely and fairly disseminate good news about Wheaton Warrenville South.
Description: Maintain Tiger PAWS Facebook and Twitter accounts and post on a weekly/regular basis. 
  
MEMBERSHIP 
Time Frame: Throughout the year, primarily summer through October
Skills/qualities: Experience with Excel, knowledge of Constant Contact is helpful, but not necessary; Attention to detail and bookkeeping is a good quality.
Description: Promote PAWS membership by attending or providing flyers at a variety of events (e.g., football reserved seating, curriculum nights, eighth grade parent orientation).  Maintain electronic membership list. Work with the Sports Pass Chair to assure timely distribution of passes. Distribute volunteer lists to all committee chairs in September.   Create Constant Contact list from email list provided by the school/District in September.  Determine the sports pass fee due to CUSD200 in March. Work with the Vice President to edit existing membership sign up forms in May for use in the membership drive.  
 
MOTHER SON BRUNCH 
Time Frame: Organize and plan the Mother Son Brunch in mid April.
Description: In coordination with volunteers  select venue,  food, decorations, senior gifts, and media needs including speaker and slideshow. Work with PAWS vice president on ticket sales through Constant Contact.  Review reservations and seating arrangements. A budget is available for this event and donated items may be solicited.

OPERATION SAFE CELEBRATION
Time Frame: Primarily February–May.
Description:  Work in conjunction with Wheaton North to fundraise and coordinate Post Prom event which occurs in late April or May. A delegate who is on the Operation Safe Celebration will advise PAWS of the planning of the Operation Save Celebration post prom activities.  Works with the PAWS vice president and PAWS media chair to communicate and market the post prom activities to the WWS community.

OUTDOOR CONCESSIONS 
Time Frame: July–October (November if playoffs), March–May. 
Skills:  Good communication and works well with other volunteers.  Well organized with basic math & spreadsheet skills. 
Description:  Coordinate the operation of the Outdoor Concessions Stand during home athletic events in the Fall (Football) & Spring (Track). Purchase products and coordinate volunteers. Will also work closely with PAWS Treasurer to arrange seed money in cash boxes, and deposit of funds after each event.  Team includes  Set-Up Manager who is available during the day, Purchasing Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, and a small crew of regular volunteers. 
    March to May: The Concessions Manager and Purchasing Coordinator continue to provide for spring sports who want to use the outdoor concessions.  It is usually Girls & Boys track who will use the stand in the spring. If the spring teams decide they want to open the stand, they contact the Concessions Manager for purchasing and the PAWS Treasurer for seed money in the cash box. Create Sign Up Genius links and recruit volunteers through the PAWS newsletter.  The teams are also expected to recruit volunteers to staff the stand.

PAWS SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS 
Time Frame: Spring. Applications due end of February each year. 
Note:  Parents of seniors are ineligible to serve on this committee. 
Description: In coordination with the counseling department at WWS, obtain senior applicant essays for the Tiger PAWS Scholarship.  Recruit volunteers to review and evaluate essay submissions. Notify scholarship winners in early April. Attend April PAWS meeting for winner recognition, reading of essays, and coordinate with PAWS Treasurer for the distribution of scholarship checks awarded at $500 each.

PE UNIFORMS 
Time Frame: August distribution of uniforms.  
Description: The PE Uniform chair coordinates the PE uniform vendor  to distribute pre-ordered uniforms for pick up during PE classes the first week of school.  May also sell uniforms during this time.  Must work WWS PE Department, uniform vendor (currently Wheaton Sports Center) and committee volunteers to coordinate receipt of uniforms and best methods of distribution.

PTA COUNCIL DELEGATE 
Time Frame:  Throughout the year.  
Description: Attend PTA Council Meetings once a month; Currently held the second Wednesday of each month from 9:30am to 11:30am at the District 200 office building. Give a PAWS report at the Council Meetings.  Attend PAWS meetings and report on PTA council happenings.
 
SEASONAL ACTIVITY PROGRAM–CHAIR
Time Frame: August, November, March and April
Skills/abilities: Organization, attention to detail, ability to coordinate multiple activities
Description: Work with the PAWS graphic designer and Sponsor/Ad chair to coordinate the production of the Seasonal Activity Programs (Fall, Winter and Spring).  In coordination with the WWS Athletics office, attend sports picture days to obtain all team photos and rosters to be included in that season's program.  Proofread programs and ensure proper ad placement  of sponsors. Coordinate with the district office print shop to print the programs.  Distribute the programs through the WWS Athletics Office to coaches for distribution to the included WWS teams.  Deliver a program for each sponsor to the PAWS Sponsorship Chair.

SEASONAL ACTIVITY PROGRAM–GRAPHICS
Time Frame: August, November, March. Timing in each of these months is around the time of the athletic photo days as set by the WWS athletic department.
Description:  Create and edit the layout and graphic design elements of each activity program including the ads for sponsors, team pictures, and school information.  Coordinate with the Program Chair and Sponsorship chair for accuracy and release.  Contact the District Print office to coordinate the printing of the programs.   

SEASONAL ACTIVITY PROGRAMS—SPONSORSHIPS
Time Frame: Should begin in spring.
Skills/abilities: Sales experience helpful, willingness to call on businesses during the summer, knowledge of Excel, attention to detail.
Description: Call on businesses, old and new, to sponsor PAWS in exchange for advertising in our stadium and activity programs. Follow up with sponsors in regards to ad layout and payment. Ads must be placed and paid for prior to program production in mid August. Work with the PAWS graphic designer and seasonal activity chair to assure correct ad layout for the program. Process sign orders with vendors. Work with the seasonal program chair to facilitate sign installation and Friday night banner display.  Compile and print public announcements for the football season and place them in the stadium booth. Maintain a spreadsheet and follow the PAWS financial procedures for all expenses and income.

SENIOR GRADUATION SIGNS 
Time Frame: April and May
Description: Work with Tiger Paws vice president on promoting sale of signs through constant contact. Work with sign vendor on sales and distribution of ordered/purchased signs to graduating seniors in April and May.

SPORTS PASSES
Time Frame: Summer through first football game.
Description: Design and order Sports Pass for the upcoming year. Fill out and distribute the passes by mail to the families who purchased them.  Names and addresses are obtained from Membership. Attend Fall Football seating night and sell passes.
 
STAFF APPRECIATION 
Time Frame: Mid April
Description: Coordinate faculty, staff and admin (approximately 200 people) staff appreciation event. In coordination with volunteers, determine theme, décor and menu. Set up, serve, and clean up event.  A budget is available for this event and donated items may be solicited.
 

TESTING DAY SNACKS 
Time Frame: March–mid April; Mainly 1–2 days in mid April, plus advanced planning for requesting donations and for purchasing.
Description:  Work in coordination with WWS administration to provide snacks for each student participating in standardized testing. This chair will work in coordination with committee members to purchase products and solicit donated items to incorporate into snack bags.
 

TIGER MERCHANDISE 
Time Frame: Year round
Skills: Experience with Microsoft Excel and PayPal, creative, organized, enjoy working with others
Description: Work within a set budget to purchase products to sell to Tiger Nation. Price and tag products, coordinate sales of products during select WWS lunch hours, home football games and various school events including curriculum night, Freshman Parent Orientation, Band/Orchestra concerts. Maintain an electronic file of inventory.  Arrange for specialty items to be sold  at specific times through online sales.  Promote the sales through signage, email blasts, facebook, website, and tweets. Follow the PAWS financial procedures for all income and expenses. Follow up with the treasurer regularly to assure accurate record keeping.

WEBSITE 
Time Frame:  Throughout the year.
Description: Responsibilities for the position include maintaining the Tiger PAWS website, including image and text updates for Tiger Wear, special event postings, advertiser image/text updates, Tiger PAWS form updates and committee member email alias updates. The webmaster shall be responsible for handling the annual domain renewal and working with Tiger PAWS officers and committee chairs to keep the website current.
