Committees 2020–2021

ALLOCATIONS – Janet Mathis 
Time Frame: Throughout the school year on a quarterly basis.
Skills: Microsoft Excel
Description: Accept and review submitted requests for allocations submitted by WWS staff. Follow up with staff as necessary. Meet 2 times a year with committee members to determine which allocations should be recommended for approval vote by general membership. Present the committee recommendations at the PAWS general meetings. Coordinates and follows up with staff to assure invoices have been received and paid.
 
DIRECTORY – Chris Preede
Time Frame: September
Skills: Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat
Note: Ideal candidate will be someone who wants to work flexible hours and for a short period of time in September
Description: Duties occur primarily in Sept. This is a time intensive job for a few weeks and requires great attention to detail and good knowledge of Excel, Word and basic Adobe Acrobat. The duties include collecting various pieces of information for WWS, updating each directory page, manipulating data (Excel spreadsheet) to create student information pages, formatting all pages, combining all pages using Adobe Acrobat and working with the CUSD 200 Print Shop to print/mail the directories.
 
FOOTBALL PARKING PASSES – Open
Time Frame: June-October (November if playoffs)
Skills: Willingness to work (or arrange volunteers to work) the Friday night Football games and other events. Organized.
Description: All sales will be online with membership. In August: make and distribute parking passes prior to first home football game. Attend Football Reserved Seating dates in August to distribute parking passes and sell additional passes. Mail remaining passes prior to first home football game. Possibly (depending on date) attend Fall athletic meeting to sell additional passes.
August-October (November if playoffs): Personally work, or arrange for volunteers to work, the end zone parking lot at all home games. Protect reserved spots and sell additional daily spots. Parking lot must be blocked off and monitored prior to Sophomore game gate opening which is 4:30 and ending at half time of Varsity game (approximately 8:30pm).
 
FOOTBALL SEATING – Mike and Julie Oltmanns
Time Frame: The week before school starts.  All tickets have to be sold and issued prior to the first game.  After the first game, the job is basically over.
Description: The sale is held in the evening.  The sale dates have to be coordinated with the Membership chair so that they can attend the sale and check memberships.  The Football Parking Pass chair is also usually there. There is some coordination needed with the Athletic Director as well. 
  
FRESHMAN ORIENTATION – Jannette Dato
Time Frame: June-August.
Description: Working within a set budget, and in cooperation with WWS Administration, you will supply and serve food to the students on Freshman Orientation Day held in August. 

HOMECOMING LIAISON – Open
Timeline: August-October
Description: Plan and execute alumni events for Homecoming. Solicit donations from alumni.

LANDSCAPING/BEAUTIFICATION – Una Betti
Timeline: Throughout year
Description: Maintain plantings in WWS front sign bed, front door entrance and Red Grange field pots. Coordinate with WWS building superintendent.  Coordinate with Tiger PAWS for ordering and installation of bricks on Tradition Trail, usually in the Spring.
 
MEDIA RELATIONS/PUBLICITY – Moyra Gorski
Time Frame: all school year
Skills/qualities: Frequent social media user. Good network of friends to help report on sports/activities. Ability to concisely and fairly disseminate good news about South.
Description: Maintain Tiger PAWS Facebook & Twitter accounts and post on a weekly/regular basis. Send occasional information to District 200 Director of Public Relations for Friday Focus announcements. 
  
MEMBERSHIP – Ellen Cassin
Time Frame: Throughout the year (mostly summer through October)
Skills/qualities: Experience with Excel, knowledge of Constant Contact is helpful, but not necessary; Attention to detail and bookkeeping is a good quality.
Description: Promote PAWS membership by attending or providing flyers at a variety of events (e.g., football reserved seating, curriculum nights, eighth grade parent orientation) Maintain electronic membership list. Work with the Sports Pass Chair to assure timely distribution of passes. Distribute volunteer lists to all committee chairs in September (or earlier for some committees).   Create Constant Contact list from email list provided by the school/District in September. Compute the sports pass fee to be forwarded to CUSD200 in Feb/March. Work with Vice President to edit existing membership sign up form in May for use the next year.  
 
OUTDOOR CONCESSIONS - Tim Hertz & Julie Vassios
Time Frame: July-October (November if playoffs), March-May. 
Skills:  Good Communication and works well with other volunteers.  Recruitment skills are really, really important.  Well organized with basic math & spreadsheet skills.  Ability to closely estimate quantities needed when ordering to stock the stand.  
Description:  Coordinate the operation of the Outdoor Concessions Stand during home athletic events in the Fall (Football) & Spring (Track). Each season is handled the same, with the exception that menu and timetables are different.  Coordinate with the team parent for each of the spring track teams.  Duties include cleaning (or organizing a cleaning committee), setting a menu & prices, printing menus, recruiting volunteers, ordering stock, inventory assessment, purchasing stock and setting up delivery times for day of event.  Any of these duties can be assigned to volunteers, but the chairperson(s) organize these tasks.

OPERATION SAFE CELEBRATION – Janet Alman and Cate Economos
Time Frame: Throughout school year, but mostly Feb. - May.
Description:  Work in conjunction with Wheaton North to fundraise and coordinate Post Prom event which occurs in late April or May.

PE UNIFORMS – Dawnelle Muff
Time Frame: A little bit in summer, then in August distribute most uniforms.  
Description: The Chair helps distribute the ordered uniforms sold through the Wheaton Sports Center.  Must work with WNHS and WSC volunteers to coordinate receipt of uniforms and best methods to distribute.

PTA DELEGATE – Michele Triscik and Jen Banowetz
Time Frame:  Throughout the year.  
Description: Attend PTA Council Meetings once a month; Currently 2nd Wednesday of each month- 9:30am to 11:30am. Attend PAWS meetings and report on council happenings.
 
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS – Jennifer Campe and Teresa Huelskoetter
Time Frame: Spring. Applications due end of February each year. 
Note:  Parents of seniors cannot serve on this committee. 
Description: Review senior applicant essays for Tiger PAWS scholarships. Six are awarded at $500 each. Jeff Pawlak, a counselor at South, will coordinate with Chair. Assign numbers to candidates so committee members do not know applicant identities. Recruit six volunteers to read and evaluate. Contact winners in early April. Attend April PAWS meeting for winners recognition, reading of essays, and distribution of checks.

SEASONAL ACTIVITY PROGRAM CHAIR – Aimee Olsen
Time Frame: August, November, March (or April)
Skills/abilities: Willingness to work with others, able to attend some football games and other events
Description: Work with the PAWS graphic designer and Sponsor/Ad chair to coordinate
the production of the Seasonal Activity Programs (Fall, Winter and Spring).  Ensure correct ad placement. In coordination with the graphic designer and athletic office, make sure all team photos and rosters are included in that season program.  Responsible for ensuring the programs are proofread and printed. Our graphic designer has been working with the district office print shop. Ensure distribution of the programs. Coordinate with athletic office, team parents, & coaches to get programs distributed to the team participants. Provide a program to each sponsor.

SEASONAL ACTIVITY PROGRAM--LAYOUT/DESIGN – Amy Fiorato
Time Frame: August, November, March. Couple weeks in each of these months around the time of the athletic photo days as set by WWS athletic department.
Description:  Create and edit the layout and graphic design elements of each activity program.  Coordinate with Program Chair and Sponsorship chair for accuracy and release. Contact the District Print office to arrange for printing of the programs.  

SEASONAL ACTIVITY PROGRAMS—SPONSORSHIP/AD SALES – Suzie Weber
Time Frame: Should begin in Summer.
Skills/abilities: Sales experience helpful, willingness to call on businesses during the summer, knowledge of excel, attention to detail.
Description: Call on businesses (old and new) to sponsor PAWS in exchange for advertising in our stadium and activity programs. Follow up with sponsors in regards to ad layout and payment. (Ads must be placed and paid for prior to program production in mid August.) Work with the PAWS graphic designer and seasonal activity chair to assure correct ad layout for the program. Process sign orders with vendor (currently Alpha Graphics). Work with seasonal program chair to facilitate sign installation and Friday night banner display.  Compile and print public announcements for the football season and place in stadium booth. Keep a spreadsheet and follow treasurer’s procedures for all expenses and income. Follow up with treasurer regularly to assure accurate bookkeeping.

SENIOR GRADUATION SIGNS – Dani de Leon
Time Frame: April and May
Description: Work with VP on selling signs through constant contact. Work with sign vendor on purchasing signs at low cost. Distribute signs to graduating seniors in late April/early May.
 
SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS – Susan Nordmark
Time Frame: October through March
Description: Coordinate with school staff to select and distribute academic awards. Order letter and lantern awards. Request Award Date. Assemble awards prior and keep track of inventory.
  
SPORTS PASSES – Wendy Fawcett
Time Frame: Summer through first football game.
Description: Design and order Sports Pass for the upcoming year. Fill out and distribute the passes by mail to the families who purchased them.  Names and addresses are obtained from Membership. Attend Fall Football seating night and sell passes. 
 
STAFF APPRECIATION – Rosanna Grutzmacher
Time Frame: Mid April
Description: Serve all faculty, staff and admin – approximately 200 people.
Determine décor and lunch menu. Set up, serve, and clean up lunch and decorations.
 
STUDENT SOCIALS/MOTHER-SON BRUNCH – Neelam Rozanski and Elizabeth Sekera
Time Frame: Organize and plan the Mother Son Brunch in mid April.
Description: Select speaker. Find volunteer to do slideshow. Coordinate with country club on food, decorations, and media needs. Work with VP on selling tickets to the event through Constant Contact.  Collect reservations and do the seating arrangements. 

TESTING DAY SNACKS – Michele Feely and Tricia Forrest
Time Frame: March - Mid April; Mainly 1-2 days in mid April, plus advanced planning for requesting donations and for purchasing.
Description: PAWS supplies a snack for each student participating in standardized testing. This chair will work within a set budget to purchase product and coordinate the assembly of bags of snacks for each classroom. Information will come from the Assistant Principal Secretary in the WWS office. 
 
TIGER MERCHANDISE – Dawnelle Muff and Dawn Draus
Time Frame: Year round
Skills/qualities: Experience with Excel, organized, enjoy working with others
Description: Working within a set budget, purchase product to sell to Tiger Fans.  Price and tag the product. Display and sell product during select lunch hours, home football games on Friday nights and events like curriculum night, Freshman Parent Orientation, Athletic Parent Meetings, Band/Orchestra concerts, etc. Coordinate volunteers (you will be provided with list of volunteers). Keep an electronic file (excel spreadsheet) of inventory. Promote the sales through signage, email blasts, facebook, website, and Claypool tweets.
Follow treasurer’s procedures for all income and expenses. Follow up with treasurer regularly to assure accurate record keeping.

WEBSITE – Sue Zubek
Time Frame:  Throughout the year.
Description: Responsibilities for the position include maintaining the Tiger PAWS website, including image and text updates for Tiger Wear, special event postings, advertiser image/text updates, Tiger PAWS form updates and committee member email alias updates. The webmaster shall be responsible for handling the annual domain renewal and working with Tiger PAWS officers and committee chairs to keep the website current.
